Important to know: the air vent of the fireplace, used for combustion, must be connected with the outside of the building, whether it’s the attic or the basement. Fire is a great consumer of oxygen and if the air vent doesn’t connect with the outside of the building there is the possibility of the fire using up all the oxygen in the room where the fireplace is built.
